Uses
- People who can not tolerate or are non-compliant with compression bandages
- People who have very delicate skin but need a primary and secondary dressing
- Limbs with oedema that need a small amount of compression
Positives
- Great at applying a small amount of circumferential compression onto limbs
Useful for holding primary and secondary dressings in place when tapes are not appropriate
Limitations
- Can cause limb ischemia on severely arterial compromised limbs
- If it rolls up it can act as a tourniquet
Precautions
- Contraindicated for patient’s with arterial stenosis
