Uses

  • Dressing securing
  • Sprains
  • Strains
  • Light compression for oedema

Positives

  • Low bulk bandage
  • Sticks to itself, not to skin, hair or clothing
  • Air-permeable
  • Stays in place, even on limbs with varying contours
  •  Skin friendly

Limitations

    • Clinician must take care not to over stretch the bandage as this will apply too much pressure when the bandage self adheres to itself

Precautions

  • This bandage should not be placed directly on the skin or hair, as it may cause friction-related pressure damage; it must always be applied over a base layer of padding, such as cotton wool, to ensure protection.
  • Not appropriate for residents with arterial stenosis
  • Peripheral neuropathy
