Uses
- Venous ulcers with suspected or known bacterial load
- Over boney prominences or tendon if on show
Positives
- Lift stubborn fibrous tissue from wound bed without needing for sharp debridement both at the bedside or in theatre
- The Ag acts as an antimicrobial decreasing the bacterial load on the wound
- Can be used up to moderately exudating wounds
Limitations
- The back of the dressing (marked by the writing) does not allow for exudate to be wicked into a secondary dressing. This can be mitigated by adding perforations.
- The desloughing action can take a week or more depending on the wound bed
