Quick Overview

The PICO NPWT is a wound care system, which provides suction known as Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT). This draws out excess fluid from a wound and provides a compressive force protecting the injured area from getting dirty to ultimately help promote healing. Positives

  • Lightweight, discreet and portable
  • Locks in the exudate into the multilayered dressing
  • Very flexible so conforms well to knees and limbs well

Limitations

  • Limited sizes and cant be cut
  • Not very sturdy
  • Not suitable for moderate to high exudating wounds – Once the exudate reached the track pad on the dressing the active suction stops
  • If the wound is deeper than 2mm then a hydrofibre will need to be used to fill the cavity.
  • Once a leak occurs the motor does not have much compensation for the leak so it start failing

Precautions

  • Automatically stops 7 days after the vac is turned on
  • Do not use on actively bleeding wounds
