Primary Complementary Dressings
Uses
• Used for people who need to have their faecal matter bi-passed so that it doesn’t contaminate their wound near their anus.
• Used for people who are suffering from Incontinance Associated Dermatitis (IAD)
• Patient must have type 7 stool for the appliance to work
Positives
• Aids in the transport of faecal matter without (or minimal) contamination of the perianal region
• Can aid in wound care and Incontinence associated Dermatitis (IAD)`
Limitations
• Requires faecal matter to be type 6 -7 BEFORE tube is inserted
Precautions
• Haemorroids
• Faecal matter already in rectum
• Anal Fissures
• Poor faecal tone
