Uses
- Infected split skin grafts
- Shallow and low exudating wounds
- Scratches, abrasions, fungating wounds
Positives
- Provides moisture to the wound bed.
- Slowly releases chlorhexidine acetate antiseptic, offering prolonged action against a variety of bacteria.
- Doubling the layers can extend dressing changes to up to 2 days.
Limitations
- Can’t be used in sinuses or packed
- Dries out relatively fast ( 1 layer = 1 day)
- Has no absorption ability
Precautions
- Not suitable for patients with known allergies to chlorhexidine.
