Uses

  • Infected split skin grafts
  • Shallow and low exudating wounds
  • Scratches, abrasions, fungating wounds

Positives

  • Provides moisture to the wound bed.
  • Slowly releases chlorhexidine acetate antiseptic, offering prolonged action against a variety of bacteria.
  • Doubling the layers can extend dressing changes to up to 2 days.

Limitations

  • Can’t be used in sinuses or packed
  • Dries out relatively fast ( 1 layer = 1 day)
  • Has no absorption ability

Precautions

  • Not suitable for patients with known allergies to chlorhexidine.
