Quick Overview
The AQUACEL® Ag Hydrofiber® is a soft, sterile, non-woven ribbon dressing that integrates the advanced gelling properties of Hydrofiber® technology with the broad-spectrum antimicrobial benefits of ionic silver (Ag+).
Upon contact with exudate, the absorbable Hydrofiber® material forms a cohesive gel, providing rapid and sustained antimicrobial action as needed. This versatile primary dressing is ideal for moderately to highly exuding chronic and acute wounds, particularly those with existing infection or an elevated risk of infection.

Secondary Complementary Dressings
Uses
- Suitable for cleaning granulating wounds with a deficit in granulation tissue.
- Effective for wounds with moderate to high exudate levels.
- Ideal for managing infected wounds.
- Can be used in wound cavities for improved fluid management.
Positives
- Effectively absorbs and wicks away thin exudate, such as haemoserous and serous fluid.
- Transfers absorbed fluid into a secondary dressing for enhanced management.
- Assists in debriding wounds upon removal of the dressing.
- Can be used in wound cavities when a portion of the dressing remains outside the cavity.
- Can be linked to another piece of AQUACEL® Ag rope to increase fluid absorption capacity.
Limitations
- Without an absorbing secondary dressing, exudate may pool, leading to maceration of the peri-wound area.
- If the dressing is removed before it is fully saturated with exudate, it can cause trauma to the wound bed, which can be mitigated by saturating the dressing with normal saline or sterile water before removal.
Precautions
- If the wound bed or exudate has dried and adhered to the dressing, apply sterile normal saline or sterile water to rehydrate the dressing, reducing trauma during removal.
