A versatile, polyvinyl alcohol dressing used for tunnels and undermining, in situations where hypergranulation responses are likely and bolstering.

Higher tensile strength makes it easy to place and remove from tunnels and undermining. Increased density for restricted in-growth of granulation tissue for a more comfortable dressing change

Uses

  • Tunneling wounds
  • Slight dry wounds that require a Vac dressings

Positives

  • Can be used in tunneling where the end of the wound can not be seen
  • Over sensitive areas of the body with an interface (eg. tendons
  • Where a wound may be deemed slightly too dry for  vVac machine and moisture needs to be imparted

Limitations

  • Because it is pre moistened with normal saline it is not useful on wounds where the extra moisture could erode the tissue. For example it should not be used when bolstering a new formed split skin graft.

Precautions

  • Can macerate wound beds
  • if moisture is required but maceration a concern think about using an interface such as a intrasite conformable to add moisture using a regular Vac foam
