Uses
- Use when you need to track a vac away from a bony prominence like the sacral region, foot or where the vac sensor tubing could cause a pressure injury
Positives

- Reduces the need to put adhesive barriers on the patient’s skin when you have to track the vac manually
Limitations
- Another source of leakage (rare)
- Requires the patient to be aware and to take care of the extension as to not causer a tear or pull it off
- Can not be used in high exudating wounds
Precautions
Make sure the hard suction tubing is not under the patient as this will cause a pressure injury
