Treatment Goals

Stabilise the wound bed whilst we await surgery to remover the eschar that has formed

Aim of Dressing

Dry out the eschar tissue to minimise the chances of sepsis forming whilst reducing the bacterial load on the wound bed.

Vascularitis opf unknown reason

A woman with reoccurring vascularitis returned to hospital with eschar occurring on the lateral part of her wound.

Clean the wound bed

Clean the wound bed thoroughly. If required you may need to use a debrisoft if it is too painful for the patient.

Apply iodine soaked gauze

Soak the ribbon gauze in iodine and ring it out a little and then apply to the wound bed

Apply zetuvit

Secure with cotton bandage and crepe

Secure dressing using cotton bandage and crepe from toes to knee
