Protecting from trauma

When the growth isn't bleeding a you are after a atraumatic primary dressing

Prepare Sterile Field

Prepare your sterile field with your sterile products

Apply inadine

Fold the inadine in half or quarters. This is to minimise the chances of the dressing adhering to the wound bed.

Apply Carbon dressing

Apply the carbon dressing. In this care plan i have used Vliwaktiv as it has a more padding than the Actisorb

Secure

We used hypafix but you could also use Tubular form

Darcoe shoe

Obtain a properly fitted Darcoe shoe. This can be done through requesting an Orthotic review. They are no means trending but they do make mobilising safe.

Protecting + maintaining haemostasis

When the growth is bleeding a you are after a primary dressing that will

Prepare your sterile field

Prepare your sterile field with your sterile products

Apply alginate

If the wound is active bleeding apply and press the alginate dressing on. Don't be tempted to try stop it with gauze and then remove it as this will dislodge the clot.

Apply Carbon dressing

Only use the Vliwaktiv as the Acticoat will be over run by the frank blood
