Treatment Goals

Patient is not for active treatment. The goal is to minimise the spell of the cancerous wound and allow patient to have a good quality of life.

Aim of Dressing

Odour control through charcoal filtering and antimicrobial dressings. The white soft paraffin allows for a atraumatic removal of the dressing if done routinely.

Multiple Cancers on leg

Wash patient

Wash patient in the shower or give a bed wash

Apply a double layer of betadine to the areas of cancer/broken skin

Apply charcoal dressing to aid in reducing the odour.

Secure

Secure with hypafix

Care for the skin

Apply white soft paraffin to whole leg *Only after dressing is done. Otherwise the hypafix won't stick*
