Treatment Goals

To support the damaged tissue whilst providing antimicrobial coverage.

Aim of Dressing

Minimise trauma to damaged areas by using atraumatic dressings whilst also reducing the changes of infection by using a silver impregnated cream.

A localised burn

A localised burn where there isn't a full thickness burn requiring specialist treatment.

Step 1

Setup sterile field

Setup your sterile field with all your sterile products

Clean the wound

Clean the wound paying attention to make sure you don't agitate the fragile skin. This can be achieved through 'dabbing' or sponging the area rather the using a scrubbing motion.

Apply Flamzine

Where possible apply the cream in a non-traumatic way by squeezing it on and then gently push it out to all the areas rather than applying on applicator. This will reduce the pain felt by the patient.

Cover with Jelonet

Apply the jelonet over the cream to aid in the melolin to have an atraumatic release. This can go over onto the peri-wound area.

Cover with Melolin

Place on top of the jelonet. Make sure it is not in contact with the wound as it can become stick when left for an extended period of time.

Secure

Secure with crepe bandage. Try not to make it too tight as this will squeeze out the Flamazine cream.
