Aim of Dressing

To dry out the skin and tissue to stop pungent smells and necrotic tissue from becoming wet gangrene as cellular decay sets in from arterial stenosis

Ischaemic leg

Patient is a palliative patient who has an ischemic leg

Step 1

Clean the leg

Clean the area gently with Ph neutral soap

Step 2

Paint the leg in betadine

Paint the leg in betadine like a 5 year old in art class. You will need at least half the bottle.as the tissue starts to die you will need to do a double layer or betadine to those areas.

Allow to dry

Allow the betadine to dry. DO NO put socks on if it can be avoided or other tight fitting garments.
