Clean dehisced abdominal primary closure

Step 1

Clean the wound thoroughly

Clean the wound thoroughly with normal saline making sure to clean the base of the wound

Gently fill the cavity

Gently fill the cavity with the aquacel ribbon. If you need more than 1 piece you MUST tie the two piece together before placing them into the cavity

Cover

Cover with waterproof dressing. This may need to be exchanged for a more absorbent dressing (such as a zetuvit) if the exudate can not be managed by a biatain adhesive.
